I creatively engage people in productive End of Life conversations, regardless of their stage of life.
What's your relationship with death? How does it influence your end of life planning, from Advance Healthcare Directives to body disposition and estate planning? Whether death is near or nowhere on the horizon, it's never too early to begin this exploration. I work with groups of any size, from community groups, to organizations, to pairs and families.
Off-the-shelf talks and road-tested courses thoughtfully designed and run with people of all ages. I have extensive experience designing sessions for groups of all sizes and can create something that fits within your budget.
Practiced in tailoring offerings for specific audiences, I can co-design and run programs appropriate for private audiences, community members, residents, and staff at all levels.

“Annie is a ray of sunshine. Talking about death and how to prepare for it is something most people can't do. Annie has an incredible aptitude for taking the sting out of it, making it both approachable and informative.”
“THANK YOU for this outstanding class that gave me valuable info I needed to complete my EOL planning binder with 100% confidence. Now I don't need to think about it again until I review every 5 years. What a great feeling of satisfaction. THANK YOU.”
“Thank you for all the effort you put in. This was an excellent and very original class and we were lucky to have you design it and teach it to us. Thank you.”
“This class was transformative for me. Prior to taking the class, I was afraid of death and uncomfortable talking about it. In the course of the 6 weeks, I became less afraid and very comfortable talking about death. That is amazing! I completely revamped my end of life planning legal and personal documents. I've never had "my house" in such good order. I highly recommend this class.”
I am a seasoned human centered design practitioner, CTI-trained & Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), and INELDA-trained End-of-Life Doula. I love teaching and facilitating groups because I believe that we learn best through personal reflection and in community.
I have taught a wide range of audiences, from corporate and community groups, to academic communities. For several years, I taught a consistently popular course at Stanford University’s continuing studies program called Design Execution: Bringing Ideas to Life. I also designed and taught a second course there called Design Your Departure: A Creative Approach to End-of-Life Planning.
I’ve worked independently for over ten years. Before that, I spent 10 years at the award-winning global design consultancy, IDEO, during its golden era (hot take!), where I designed and coached across the organization's domains of health, wellness, and aging. I've walked alongside people as they navigate retirement, aging, sexual health, serious illness, chronic disease, debt, mental illness, and death. All of that learning informs my teaching curriculum.
I’m based in Mountain View, CA, where I'm able to both kayak and wear a parka on the same day, year-round... fortunately not at the same time.
